Hi, I am Karen!  Welcome to Lydia Springs Sanctuary.  I bought this property in 2021, and with the leadership of my partner, Steve, and the dedicated hands of friends and family, the cabin was transformed from a space that was primarily non-functional to an inviting, updated, charming space to welcome friends and strangers alike.

The decisions made in upgrading the cabin have been in keeping with creating as few environmental disturbances as possible.

Throughout my life, I have sought connection to nature as a way to calm my spirit, feel closer to divine energy, and remind me of my ‘place in the family of things’ to quote Mary Oliver’s Wild Geese.  Sitting in one of the rockers on the porch, walking into the woods behind the cabin, and driving up onto the SkyLine Drive, just minutes to the west, provides a level of appreciation for this wonderful planet that sooths me.  And I want to offer you the chance to experience this as well.

I have been a therapist, a writer, an artist, and an environmental activist across my lifetime.  

I was born in the mountains of Virginia, and they have always brought me peace.
